THIS IS NOT A RUG HOOKING HOOK
This tool is a loop lifter. When we rug hook many times the strips of wool start to twist. Sometimes it is easier to take this tool (loop lifter) and gently slide it in the loop to help untwist or redirect the loop without pulling it down to start again. If fragile wool strips are hooked too many times they start to weaken fray. Many beginners find this tool helpful when hooking. A knitting needle tool can preform the same function if you have one on hand. It can also be used to lift up loops that are just slightly too low to help even out the loop.
